Kathmandu Metropolitan City has increased the entry free for
foreign visitors to visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a
UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.
                        According to the new fee structure that came into effect
from February 26, visitors from the SAAR countries are
required to pay Rs 100 per person to enter the Kathmandu
Durbar Square. Earlier, the entry fee was only Rs 25 per
person. Similarly, the KMC has increased entry fee for
internal visitors (except SAARC countries) from  Rs 200 to
Rs 300 per person.

                        The decision on the new entry fee structure was taken by the
City Council meeting of the KMC held on January 31.
